Sr. Payroll Specialist - Tax

Requires in depth knowledge of best practices and practical expertise in processing ayroll and Payroll Tax. This role manages end-to-end multi-state payroll tax compliance, filing, and reconciliation, ensuring accurate tax withholding, reporting, and remittance for federal, state, and local agencies. They act as a subject matter expert (SME), resolving complex tax inquiries, managing agency notices, and improving system processes along with assisting with payroll processing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance & Reporting

• Oversee the submission of tax filings (Forms 941, 940, W-2, state equivalents) and reconcile tax payments. Multi-State/International Tax
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws across various jurisdictions and, for global companies, manage international tax reporting. System & Process Optimization
• Manage payroll tax vendor relationships (e.g., ADP, Workday), register in new jurisdictions, and maintain accurate databases.

Issue Resolution & Auditing

• Resolve tax notices and agency inquiries, conduct internal audits, and perform W-2 corrections. Collaboration
• Work with HR, Finance, and Legal to ensure tax compliance on employee benefits, stock options, and compensation, often acting as a mentor to junior specialists.

Payroll Processing

• Enters and maintains payroll data in computerized payroll systems.
• Reviews timesheets and payroll reports to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.

Education Level: Bachelors Degree
