Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing project specifications, blueprints, and related documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for electrical construction projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, extensive knowledge of electrical systems, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation & Analysis

  • Review and analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and project documentation to determine scope of work
  • Prepare detailed material takeoffs and labor estimates for electrical installations
  • Calculate costs for materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses
  • Develop competitive and accurate project bids within specified timeframes
  • Create detailed cost breakdowns and estimate summaries for management review

Technical Analysis

  • Interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Identify potential project risks, challenges, and value engineering opportunities
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to clarify scope and requirements
  • Stay current with electrical codes, standards, and industry best practices
  • Evaluate change orders and provide cost impact assessments

 Vendor & Supplier Management

  • Obtain and analyze pricing from suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Maintain relationships with key suppliers and negotiate favorable pricing
  • Evaluate subcontractor qualifications and pricing proposals
  • Track market pricing trends for electrical materials and equipment

 Documentation & Communication

  • Prepare comprehensive estimate packages and presentation materials
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations
  • Maintain accurate estimating databases and historical cost data
  • Provide technical support during project execution phase
  • Communicate with clients, architects, and engineers regarding project requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in electrical field
  • Experience with commercial, industrial, or residential electrical projects

Preferred Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in estimating software Trimble
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and installation methods
  • Familiarity with electrical codes (NEC, local codes) and industry standards
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and project management software
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Experience with design-build or design-assist project delivery methods
  • Previous experience in electrical construction or field work
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and presentation abilities
  • Time management skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities
