Service Experts has initiated a set of technology initiatives to transform the way in which we provide heating and air conditioning services to our customers.

To make this transformation a reality, the Information Technology department is adding a Data Engineer to the team.  The Data Engineer will develop system processes to move data into and within the enterprise’s centralized data platforms.  The Data Engineer will also develop the data entity types for the enterprise’s centralized data platforms.

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of data platforms (i.e. data warehouse, data lake, data hub)
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of data modeling patterns and practices
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of data movement patterns and practices
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of visualization software (preferably Microsoft Power BI)
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of development methodologies including agile, lean, and waterfall
  • Demonstrates ability to acquire knowledge of technologies in advance of near term needs through self-study
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates strong logic and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrates strong self-management

Work Activities

  • Defines tasks and estimates for the development of data movements and data entity types for the enterprise’s centralized data platforms
  • Designs the data movements and data entity types for the enterprise’s centralized data platforms
  • Implements and tests the data movements and data entity types for the enterprise’s centralized data platforms
  • Transitions knowledge to the technology operations team to increase operational effectiveness by reducing the number of escalated incidents

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent relevant work experience.
