Position Summary:

The Director of Reporting /Controller is responsible for assisting the Corporate Controller in all areas of accounting, reporting and related controls.  Implements policies and procedures relating to accounting, operations, control and analysis for capital and operating activities to ensure appropriate structure and direction.  Interface with independent outside auditors and auditors from state and local agencies as well as internal audit.  Directs work associated with process improvement, reporting and accounting.  Identifies areas of risk or opportunity and implements associated changes. Key team member who reviews and approves the design and implementation of financial systems and enhancements

Responsibilities

• Hands-on accounting for proper Work-in-progress/Percentage of Completion for commercial projects
• Review and approve accounting entries of team
• Ensure monthly accounting and close process runs effectively, accurately and timely

• Assist with all continuous improvement/process improvement initiatives
• Actively participate in the operational support of all business units and lines of business
• Develop and produce analytics to help identify and monitor performance
• Work effectively in a complex and high-volume environment within a rapidly changing organization
• Synthesize complex accounting concepts and explain them to non-financial executives
• Directly manage a team of 2 professionals
• Hire and train professionals
• Take a lead role in understanding the Data Basics Software
• Responsible for oversight and review of monthly, quarterly and annual year-end close of GL functions; and audit coordination
• Interact in a constructive manner with external auditors
• Assist as needed with the forecasting of results
• Involvement with systems implementation
• Handle multiple tasks and deadlines in an effective manner
• Other duties as assigned

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• HVAC experience preferred
• Data Basics software a plus
• Hands-on accounting experience with Work-in-progress/Percentage of completion required
• Multi-unit experience
• CPA strongly preferred
• MBA in Accounting / Finance or related field or equivalent experience
• Prior experience at a Big 4 desired
• Experience overseeing financial reporting and controls
• Strong understanding of accounting standards and audit
• Proficiency with software is desired
• Strong communication skills, oral and written
• Enjoys working in a collaborative cross functional team environment
• Strong leadership skills
